Martinez Reverses Course on Senate Bid

Just a week after he announced a run for the Oklahoma Senate seat being vacated by Congresswoman-elect Stephanie Bice, Representative Ryan Martinez is changing course and staying in the Oklahoma House.

“I’m honored and humbled to have been encouraged by so many friends and neighbors to consider serving in the State Senate. There is no doubt that it is a unique opportunity to continue serving Edmond and making a difference for Oklahoma. However, after further reflection with my wife, Katie, along with our friends and family, we have concluded that I am more effective by continuing my work in the House of Representatives”, said Martinez.

Martinez will lead the House effort on redistricting and has won the praise of House Speaker Charles McCall for deciding to stay.

“From the day he was sworn in, Representative Martinez has been an invaluable member of the House of Representatives and a fierce advocate for the constituents he serves”, said McCall. “He’s an invaluable member of House leadership, and Edmond will continue to benefit from his steadfast conservative principles and proven track record of accomplishment. Republican leaders like Representative Martinez don’t come around often, but when they do, Oklahoma thrives.”

Martinez was first elected to House District 39 in 2016.

Ryan Martinez is an impressive public servant, more given to working for the people instead of serving his personal political aspirations. He will continue to be one of my most favored lawmakers for Oklahoma!
