Former Oklahoma Senator and Oklahoma State University President Jim Halligan has died. He was 86-years old.
Halligan served in the Oklahoma Senate from 2008 through 2016.
Halligan was the president of OSU from 1994 to 2002. He lead the university during its mourning of the ten people with the men’s basketball program due to a deadly plane crash in 2001.
Senator Tom Dugger issued a statement on Tuesday when he learned of Halligan’s passing. Dugger is the successor to Halligan in the Oklahoma Senate.
“Jim was both a mentor and trusted friend, and my thoughts and prayers are with his wife, Ann, their children, and grandchildren as we mourn his passing and give thanks for a well-lived life of service.”
