A report from the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) says the state of Oklahoma and the Oklahoma City Police Department have violated federal law and institutionalized adults with behavioral health disabilities unnecessarily. Oklahoma’s leaders are pushing back on the report calling it a federal overreach by the Biden Administration.
The Oklahoman’s M. Scott Carter and Nolan Clay write the 45-page report said Oklahoma’s state government doesn’t provide sufficient services for behavioral health issues and may have violated the Americans with Disabilities Act.
Both Governor Kevin Stitt and Attorney General Gentner Drummond said the report was an outgoing Biden Administration overreach.
