The National Federation of Independent Business has launched a statewide campaign urging Oklahoma voters to reject State Question 832.
The proposal would raise Oklahoma’s minimum wage through automatic increases tied to future adjustments. NFIB argues the measure would create a permanent and uncapped mandate on employers.
The organization says the proposal would increase operating costs for small businesses and family farms. NFIB also warned the measure could lead to higher consumer prices and job losses.
NFIB State Director Jerrod Shouse said many businesses already pay above the current minimum wage. However, he said some smaller employers, particularly in rural communities, cannot absorb additional labor costs.
Shouse said operating costs in rural Oklahoma differ from those in larger metro areas. He urged voters to reject the proposal at the ballot box.
