A multi-county grand jury report released last week shows that a woman serving a prison sentence for causing an injury crash while driving intoxicated was released to a monitoring program after Governor Kevin Stitt made phone calls on Sara Polston’s behalf. The report notes there was insufficient evidence of criminal wrongdoing.
The Oklahoman’s Nolan Clay reports the grand jury submitted its findings after hearing testimony from the near-fatal crash victim, Micaela Borrego, and her mother, Krista Borrego.
During an interview on KWTV News 9, Governor Stitt denied any wrongdoing and said he did “zero favors for this inmate.” He also said Oklahoma Attorney General Gentner Drummond was weaponizing the grand jury.
