Oklahoma Delegation Backs Secure America Act

The U.S. House has approved the Secure America Act, legislation that provides long-term funding for U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement and U.S. Customs and Border Protection through Fiscal Year 2029. All five members of Oklahoma’s U.S. House Delegation voted for the measure.

Supporters say the measure will provide funding for border security operations, immigration enforcement efforts, and personnel with ICE and Border Patrol.

Congressman Tom Cole said the legislation ensures law enforcement agencies responsible for border security have the resources they need to carry out their mission.

“Terrorists. Cartels. Human traffickers. Drug smugglers. Each day, ICE and Border Patrol agents and officers confront these threats head-on to keep America safe,” Cole said. “House Republicans have made clear that we will continue to support those who defend our homeland and keep our communities safe.”

Congresswoman Stephanie Bice said the measure provides certainty for border security agencies after funding disputes in Congress.

“Today’s legislation ensures that those who protect our southern border can not be held hostage again,” Bice said. “This legislation was long overdue.”

Congressman Kevin Hern also supported the bill, saying it provides resources for immigration enforcement and border security operations.

“I’m proud to vote in support of this critical funding for border security so our Border Patrol and immigration agents have the resources they need to deport illegal immigrants, secure the border, and keep our communities safe,” Hern said.

The legislation now heads to President Donald Trump for his signature.
