Drummond Announces $12 Million In Opioid Settlements

Oklahoma will receive approximately $12 million from settlements with eight opioid drug manufacturers over allegations the companies contributed to the national opioid crisis.

Oklahoma Attorney General Gentner Drummond announced settlements with Alvogen, Amneal, Apotex, Hikma, Indivior, Mylan, Sun Pharma and Zydus. The money will be used for opioid remediation efforts in communities across the state.

“I am committed to fighting Oklahoma’s opioid crisis at every level,” Drummond said. “Funds from these settlements will provide critical tools and resources to combat the opioid epidemic and save lives.”

Drummond’s office has already awarded nearly $30 million in opioid abatement grants to Oklahoma communities. The state’s Opioid Abatement Board also recently approved more than $12 million in additional grants to cities, counties and public trusts.

The grants support programs including opioid treatment and recovery, education and prevention efforts and strategies aimed at reducing the supply of narcotics.
