Congressman Tom Cole has introduced a U.S. House resolution congratulating the University of Oklahoma baseball team for winning the 2026 Men’s College World Series.
House Resolution 1500 recognizes the Sooners and head coach Skip Johnson for their national championship run, which culminated with a victory over the University of North Carolina.
OU entered the postseason unranked and advanced through the Atlanta Regional before reaching the College World Series in Omaha. Cole said the Sooners outscored their opponents 90-28 during the remainder of their championship run.
“As my fellow Oklahomans know, Coach Skip Johnson and the OU men’s baseball team pulled off one of the most historic triumphs in NCAA baseball history this past season when they beat the University of North Carolina in the College World Series,” Cole said. “This is why I introduced House Resolution 1500, congratulating the team and recognizing the hard work that led to the Sooners victory.”
Johnson thanked Cole and others who supported the program throughout the season.
“We felt the whole state behind us on our run to Omaha and the national championship,” Johnson said. “Just like the state of Oklahoma, our program is built on the values of hard work and commitment to something bigger than yourself.”
