The Oklahoma Attorney General is being asked to give an official opinion on whether the winner of the U.S. Senate race should immediately be sworn in or if they have to wait until January.
Congressman Kevin Hern contends that if he wins, he should take over the role once the Oklahoma election results are certified.
Appointed U.S. Senator Alan Armstrong believes he should serve through January when the term ends. Armstrong was appointed by Governor Kevin Stitt when former Senator Markwayne Mullin was appointed as Secretary of Homeland Security by President Donald Trump.
