Fundraising Underway in State Superintendent’s Race

With Joy Hofmeister facing term limits, the office of the State Superintendent of Public Instruction is an open seat for the 2022 elections and fundraising is underway.

Shawnee Superintendent Dr. April Grace has an early lead in fundraising during the second quarter. She raised $49,635 from individuals and $1,142,30 from in kid contributions. The campaign’s expenses in the second quarter were $8,151.60. With the money raised earlier, Grace has $97,435.11 in her campaign war chest according to Ethics Commission filings.

Newly minted Republican John Cox raised $5,250.00 from individuals during the second quarter of this year. He also received a $5,000 loan for his campaign. Cox spent $3,251.53 during the latest quarter giving his campaign $6,998.47 in the bank.

Education Secretary Ryan Walters, who announced his campaign in mid-July, does not have a fundraising report for the second quarter which runs April through June.
