Adams Named OHP Chief

The Oklahoma Department of Public Safety today named Assistant Commissioner Ricky Adams as the new chief of the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.

DPS Commissioner Michael Thompson announced that Adams will become the 26th Highway Patrol chief on Friday and that Maj. Gerald Davidson is being promoted to assistant commissioner.

Adams replaces Col. Kerry Pettingill following Pettingill’s retirement.

Adams is a 33-year veteran of law enforcement. He has worked for the Elk City and the Edmond Police Departments and has spent the past 27 years with the Highway Patrol.
