Five Oklahoma public schools were named 2015 National Blue Ribbon Schools today for their academic excellence.

Oklahoma’s 2015 National Blue Ribbon Schools are: Carnegie Elementary School (Carnegie Public Schools), Flower Mound Elementary School in Lawton (Flower Mound Public Schools), Harding Fine Arts Academy in Oklahoma City (Oklahoma City Public Schools), Schwartz Elementary School in Oklahoma City (Mid-Del Public Schools) and Tulsa School of Arts and Sciences (Tulsa Public Schools).

State Superintendent of Public Instruction Joy Hofmeister congratulated the schools, recognizing the hard work behind their success:

“Congratulations to each of these great Oklahoma schools on earning the 2015 National Blue Ribbon Schools award. Exceptional learning only occurs when dedicated students are matched with extraordinary teachers, administrators, staff, parents and other community members. The hard work of all of these stakeholders is what made these five schools some of the best in the United States,” Hofmeister said.

“These schools reflect the tremendous progress being made in strengthening Oklahoma’s public education system. Educators here are true champions of academic excellence. I am so proud of the accomplishments of these schools, their students and their educational communities, and I know they are too.”

The U.S. Department of Education named 335 National Blue Ribbon Schools this year. All of this year’s award winners will be honored in a ceremony Nov. 9-10 in Washington D.C.
