Oklahoma Attorney General John O’Connor has joined an effort to overturn Roe v. Wade, urging the U.S. Supreme Court to do so through the Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization case. That’s a legal challenge focused on Mississippi’s ban on most abortions after 15 weeks. O’Connor filed a brief with a group of 24 Attorneys General. The group also wants the Roe follow up case, Planned Parenthood v. Casey, to be overturned.
“Human life begins at conception, and abortion is antithetical to our country’s foundation as a free and moral people,” O’Connor said. “When the Supreme Court issued Roe v. Wade in 1973, the Court did not adhere to the rule of law or the Constitution, but instead dehumanized an entire class of people by ordering states to allow the abortions. Moreover, it degraded the character of our nation as one that values compassion and condemns violence. My colleagues and I encourage the court to correct this egregious mistake, overturn the lower court’s ruling and allow states to protect their unborn children.”
The brief contends the Roe v. Wade decision was not grounded in the Constitution, which has, in turn, distorted other areas of the law and applies special rules to abortion that are not applied elsewhere.
“Decisions like Roe and Casey also force states to draw reprehensible lines regarding abortion,” O’Connor added. “As an American committed to justice and the Constitution, I have no choice but to stand up for the least among us and to condemn the killing of our unborn children.”

Wonderful! As a woman who chose life for my child against the admonishment of medical “professionals” (warning that my child would not make it, I would likely lose my life and my pregnancy would not be “viable”). I applaud AG O’Connell’s opinion and involvement in the brief. I and my daughter, now 25 years old, were healthy throughout the 9 month pregnancy. No complications!
