Mazzei Wins Republican Governor’s Nomination

Former State Senator Mike Mazzei narrowly defeated Attorney General Gentner Drummond for the Republican nomination in the governor race.

Mazzei won 50.28% of the vote. Drummond received 49.72%.

Drummond did have an early upper hand in the race. He was clearly in the lead among absentee ballots and early voting. Mazzei overtook Drummond on Election Day.

Mazzei now faces Democrat Cyndi Munson and independent candidates Jerry Griffin, Robert Brooks Sr. and Orlando Lynn Bush in the November general election.
