The Oklahoma Supreme Court ruled this week that Oklahoma Attorney General Gentner Drummond can enter an appearance in a federal lawsuit over tribal gaming compacts signed by Governor Kevin Stitt. However, the AG cannot assume control of the defense of those compacts.
The Oklahoman’s Murray Evans writes the decision said the Governor has the authority to represent the state of Oklahoma’s interest in the underlying case, and his participation includes the choice of counsel.
It also said the Attorney General may act independently of the Governor but in an ex officio capacity.
