Stitt Signs Expansion of Oklahoma Parental Choice Tax Credit

Oklahoma Governor Kevin Stitt has signed legislation increasing funding for the state’s Parental Choice Tax Credit program.

House Bill 3705 raises the program’s funding cap to $275 million, allowing more Oklahoma families to participate in the school choice initiative.

“This law levels the playing field and ensures every parent has the freedom to choose the best education for their child,” Stitt said. “I always say kids belong to parents, not the government.”

The refundable tax credit program provides between $5,000 and $7,500 per student to help families cover private education costs.

According to the Governor’s Office, nearly 40,000 students participated in the program this year.

The legislation also highlights the Oklahoma School Choice Hub, developed under the leadership of Oklahoma Secretary of Education Dan Hamlin, which allows parents to compare education options across the state.

The Parental Choice Tax Credit program was originally established in 2023.
