MAPS 3 CRITIC DIDN’T VOTE IN MAPS ELECTION

Oklahoma County Election Board records examined by The McCarville Report show that Oklahoma City Councilman and mayoral candidate Ed Shadid apparently has been a no-show in previous city elections.
The records show he has never voted in an Oklahoma City municipal election in which his own name was not on the ballot. The first time he could cast a vote for Oklahoma City mayor will be March 4, 2014.
Shadid spent December dealing with the fallout of his decision to fight the unsealing of his divorce records. In the new year, Shadid has tried to turn the page by escalating his attacks against MAPS 3, which the voters of Oklahoma City approved in 2009. The main thrust of Shadid’s argument against MAPS 3 has been his allegation that the voters were not fully informed in 2009 when they approved the initiative.
The McCarville Report has uncovered the irony inherent in his argument: Shadid did not vote in the MAPS 3 election.
According to Oklahoma County Election Board records, Shadid, 45, did not vote when Mayor Mick Cornett was elected in 2004, or when Cornett was re-elected in 2006 and 2010.
In addition to missing the MAPS 3 vote, Shadid also did not participate when voters supported the “Big League City” initiative in March, 2008 to secure the NBA for Oklahoma City.
He also did not vote in the 2007 Oklahoma City bond election or the 2004 hotel/motel tax election.
The first time he voted in a municipal election was when his name was on the ballot for his own Council race in 2011.
Records show that Cornett voted in all of those elections.
In the 2004 mayoral race, a failure to vote in the 2002 mayoral election by all of the mayoral candidates except for Mick Cornett became an issue, as reported at the time by The Oklahoman: http://newsok.com/one-candidate-in-mayors-race-voted-last-timebrcounty-records-show-voting-record-often-spotty./article/1890097

I wonder who he voted for in 2011. Oh yeah – those records are sealed.
