The strange world of Oklahoma City Councilman Ed Shadid continues to turn.

On Wednesday, Shadid filed to run for Mayor of Oklahoma City, challenging incumbent Mick Cornett, and on the form where it asks for “Full Legal Name,” Shadid wrote Edward A. Shadid II.

According to sources, it was pointed out to Shadid during the filing process that he had appeared to have mistakenly used an initial instead of his full legal name.   He responded that he had gone to court to legally change his name.

Court records show that in fact, Councilman Shadid has legally changed his name not once, but twice.

In 2001, he successfully petitioned in an Oklahoma County courtroom to change his name from Edward A Shadid Jr. to Edward A. Shadeed.

In 2004, Councilman Shadid returned to an Oklahoma County courtroom to change his name from Edward A. Shadeed to Edward A. Shadid II.
