Dank To Seek 5th Term

Rep. David Dank announced this afternoon he will seek a fifth term representing House District 85.

“It has been an honor to serve the people of this district for the past few
years, and I am eager to continue our shared effort to bring accountability and
good government to Oklahoma,” Dank said. The Oklahoma City Republican said he
has “considerable unfinished business.”

Dank was primary author of a measure which led to a popular vote that
capped annual property tax increases at three percent. The cap had previously
been five percent, which was a hardship for many Oklahoma families.Dank also
served as the first chairman of a legislative committee dealing with senior
issues. He continues to work for a companion measure that would freeze property
taxes for seniors over 65 for as long as they own their home.

Dank also chaired a blue ribbon task force examining abuses in tax credits
which annually cost the state hundreds of millions of dollars.

“Tax credit reform remains a primary mission of my service in the
legislature,” he said. “In this effort to stop abusive giveaways that prevent
ordinary taxpayers from receiving real tax relief, I know I have made some
enemies among the lobbyists and some other power brokers. I did not seek this
job to be popular. I sought it to do the right thing for the people who elected
me.”

Dank has earned a reputation as an independent thinker. He set aside his
entire legislative salary to wage the property tax reform battles and is an
outspoken advocate of structural reforms in state government to modernize and
make it more cost efficient.

District 85 includes portions of northwest Oklahoma City, The Village and
Nichols Hills.
