Republican Corporation Commission candidate Cliff Branan said today he’s raised more than $300,000 for his campaign.
“I have been overwhelmed by the statewide support so many have shown. We have gone from a standing start to a full effort in just a matter of weeks. While visiting with voters about creating jobs, promoting energy independence and pushing back against Washington’s overreach is something I have done for years, running statewide is new. It is going to be expensive, but I could not be more pleased with our progress.”
“Cliff and his wife Connell have been traveling the state and have been very well-received as they’ve visited with voters,” said Campaign Manager Todd Brawley.
Branan announced his decision to seek the Corporation Commission seat being vacated by Patrice Douglas on February 4. Later this month, the campaign will report having collected more than $300,000 prior to March 31.
The campaign has yet to have a kick-off fundraising event, but that has been scheduled for April 10th in the home of Ann and Bill Johnstone.
“I am so pleased the Johnstones are opening their home. As I embark on this race, it is truly humbling the family that drilled the first commercially successful oil well, the Nellie Johnstone, is supporting my candidacy. Oil and natural gas has been a meaningful part of our state’s history, and as the next Corporation Commissioner, I will want to maximize jobs throughout our energy sector,” Branan concluded.
