Bridenstine Draws No Opponent, Says He’s Not A ‘Tea Party candidate’

Tulsa World

U.S. Rep. Jim Bridenstine will serve a second term after drawing no challengers during the three-day filing period that ended Friday.

The 1st District Republican, a Navy Reserve pilot and business consultant from Tulsa, ousted 10-year incumbent John Sullivan in 2012.

Bridenstine has become a rising celebrity among some conservatives, appearing on national radio and television programs and getting one of the conservative PAC Heritage Action’s highest ratings.

Bridenstine has said while he may have been elected with tea party support, he is not a “tea party candidate.”
