State Treasurer Ken Miller today announced his endorsement of T.W. Shannon for the United States Senate. “T.W. has unified Republicans across the spectrum, from grassroots conservatives to business leaders alike,” Miller said.
“T.W. Shannon is charismatic and engaging, and has an uncanny ability to communicate the Republican message to an audience we desperately need to reach. Speaker T.W. Shannon’s solid support for pro-business policies should not get lost in the noise of a campaign.”
Miller noted that the Oklahoma State Chamber of Commerce awarded T.W. Shannon with its Guardian of Free Enterprise Award for his efforts as speaker of the House.
“T.W. consistently supported lawsuit reform, the consolidation of state boards and agencies, and energy policies that encourage job growth and capital expenditure. As chairman of the House transportation committee, T.W. led more investment into our state’s transportation infrastructure and less into an insatiable bureaucracy.
“As House speaker, T.W. delivered landmark workers’ compensation reform that will boost Oklahoma’s business environment for decades to come. He helped unite Oklahoma leaders around a pro-growth outcome fair to both employers and employees by replacing a cumbersome and outdated court system with a streamlined administrative approach,” Miller said.
“Chamber President Fred Morgan has said that the legislative session in which T.W. Shannon was speaker, was the most successful for business in his memory.
“Even though his policy accomplishments are many, my support of T.W. is more prospective in nature. T.W. Shannon will become a national leader that will make Oklahomans proud. Once again, our state will show America that strong, diverse and principled leadership matters to the GOP. We can help ensure a prosperous future for our state and nation, by starting today to elect the leaders of tomorrow,” Miller said.
“A man of principle, T.W. fully understands and appreciates that conservative economic policies create prosperity. He understands, as President Reagan said, that a rising tide raises all boats,” Miller said.
Shannon said that he’s honored to have the state treasurer’s endorsement. “Ken Miller is a stand up guy and a true friend who deserves his reputation as one of the most respected leaders in Oklahoma,” Shannon said.
No surprise here. For those that don’t know, TW and Miller are roommates. TW stays at Miller’s place while the legislature is in session, as that ride back to Lawton is just too long. Been friends for years. I’m sure TW’s roommate considered all 3 candidates before deciding on TW.
Probably gave his roomie more consideration that that KTOK guy gave anyone BUT James Lankford!
