Lobbyist Bart McSpadden Dies; Services Wednesday

UPDATE: Services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Crossings Community Church in Oklahoma City.

Friends report today that Capitol lobbyist Bart McSpadden has died.

A source said McSpadden, 46, died suddenly this morning at his home in Edmond.

He was the son of the late Clem McSpadden, former president pro tem of the State Senate.

McSpadden was found dead about 6:30 a.m. Friday in a hot tub that was connected to a pool in the backyard, Edmond Police Department spokeswoman Jennifer Monroe told The Oklahoman.

Family members told police McSpadden got up about 2:30 a.m. and said he was going to sit by the pool because he couldn’t sleep, Monroe said.

He was the owner of McSpadden & Associates, LLC and lobbied for the Independent Insurance Agents of Oklahoma; the Oklahoma Pork Council; and, CNA Surety, among others.

The Bart McSpadden Memorial Children’s Fund has been established for memorial donations at Arvest Bank, Attn: P. Andrade, 2025 Sonoma Park Dr., Edmond, OK 73013, and another memorial fund has been established at the Bank of Commerce, P.O. Box 29, Chelsea, OK 74016.

    We have known the McSpadden family for many years. This is a very unexpected shock and an untimely end to life with much unfulfilled promise. God bless and comfort all who mourn this fine man.
