House To Organize On January 6th

The Oklahoma House of Representatives will hold its “Organizational Day” on Tuesday, January 6 at the state Capitol.

Organizational Day is a constitutionally required day where the Oklahoma House meets to certify the elections and formally seat the members of the House for the recently elected 55th Oklahoma Legislature. The House will also nominate and vote on a new House Speaker and Speaker Pro Tempore for the upcoming two-year legislative cycle. Upon completion of the Speaker and Speaker Pro Tempore elections, the House will recess and then will meet in joint session with the Senate for the publication of the statewide election results of the November 2014 elections.

The House will convene for Organizational Day at noon on Tuesday, January 6 in the House Chamber. Organizational Day is the first day of the first legislative session of the 55th Legislature. The House will reconvene at noon on Monday, February 2.
