Jason Jackson, 18-year veteran Police Sergeant, announced his bid to seek the Republican nomination in the Tulsa County Sheriff special election.
“I have been honored to serve the people of Jenks as a police officer for the past 18 years,” said Jackson. “I’m now ready to bring my years of experience and dedication to our county as your next Sheriff.”
Jackson has previously worked in narcotics and interdiction as a K9 handler. He has also worked in the detective division. Jackson was a coordinator for the field training program and has supervised the training programming for the Jenks Police Department.
When asked about his top issues, Jackson replied, “First and foremost, the main priority of the Sheriff is to keep Tulsa County safe from criminals. That may seem obvious, but we must always remind ourselves why we have a Sheriff in the first place.”
Jackson continued, “Sadly, we must also acknowledge why we’re having the special election next March. If elected, my first action will be to conduct a top-down review to ensure that everything that is happening in the Tulsa County Sheriff’s Office is above-board and ethical.”
Jackson then discussed how he would work to improve relations with the Tulsa County community, including the municipal police departments. ” It’s important that the Sheriff’s Office improves relations with the local police departments by finding ways to work together to keep our communities safe,” said Jackson. “In the end, that’s the whole reason we’re here.”
Jackson also would increase training opportunities for the Reserve Deputy Program. “The vast majority of reserve deputies in Tulsa County are doing a great job,” said Jackson. “And it’s important that we continue to offer training opportunities to ensure that our reserve deputies are prepared for whatever situation they encounter while on-duty.”
Jackson and his wife of 22 years, Pam, have 3 sons and reside in Glenpool. They attend Newspring Family Church where Jason is the Co-Pastor of Hero Church, a ministry outreach for first responders.
