Five State Questions Added to November Ballot

Five more state questions have been added to the November 8 ballot thanks to Governor Fallin signing proclamations. They join two other state questions already on the ballot.

The proposals run the gamut from increasing the state sales tax to modernizing liquor laws. State Question 779 is the one cent sales tax for education. State Question 780 would reclassify some non-violent crimes as misdemeanors instead of felonies. State Question 781 takes money saved by SQ 780 to fund community rehabilitation programs, State Question 790 removes a section of the state constitution prohibiting use of state resources for religious purposes. State Question 792 would allow for the sale of strong beer and wine in grocery and convenience stores.

The other two questions already on the ballot are State Question 776 to declare the death penalty is not cruel or unusual punishment and would allow the Legislature to designate method of execution. State Question 777 is known as the “Right to Farm” proposal. It would tie the hands of lawmakers concerning the regulation of agriculture in Oklahoma.

The deadline is this Friday for the Governor to sign any more election proclamations.
