GOP Alleges Media Bias By KFOR-TV Reporter

broylesThe Oklahoma Republican Party is calling out KFOR political reporter Abby Broyles for alleged media bias.

The state GOP tweeted a picture of Broyles wearing a campaign t-shirt for Democrat Nick Atwood, a state House candidate in Shawnee.

Atwood, a former staffer to Governor Brad Henry, posted the picture on his Facebook page. His Republican opponent is Dell Kerbs.

The controversy comes only days after Broyles ran a hit piece on a Republican candidate in a heated Payne County State House race which was later refuted by the Stillwater News Press and the Cushing Citizen.

Republican Greg Babinec is a candidate against Democrat Caryl Talley for the seat vacated by Lee Denney, of Cushing.

The McCarville Report has sources linking Broyles’ hit piece on Babenic to Stillwater Democrat state Representative Cory Williams.

TMR sources say it was Williams who did the dirt digging for Broyles at the Payne County Clerk’s office. Williams is coordinating the campaign of Democrat candidate Cheryl Talley who is Babenic’s opponent.

Williams’ campaign has made a $2700 maximum donor to Talley.

I understand the appearance of impropriety should be avoided. However, the fact that this reporter has a personal relationship with a candidate and is campaigning for him doesn’t seem to support the conclusion that she is somehow biased for or against any particular political party. If she had covered a story relating to this particular race, then that would seem to show she had a conflict of interest. But this picture and her story on a candidate in an entirely different race do not paint a full picture. A factual story exposing issues relating to a candidate’s fitness is not per se biased, just because the subject doesn’t like the revelations it contains.

There are THREE candidates in that race. I am the Libertarian candidate in district 33, I am assuming that I was “overlooked” unintentionally.

These types have infiltrated the media. OPUBCO has more than their share of them!
