Young Calls for Earned Income Tax Credit to be Restored

Rep. George E. Young, Sr. wants the state Earned Income Tax Credit restored just a year after the Legislature cut off the “refundable” part of the credit to help fill a $1.3 billion budget gap. To that end, Young has introduced House Bill 1474.

Young’s district had the most EITC recipients in the state. The impact to his district was more than a half million dollars to working poor families.

“Why this burden should be placed on the people of my district – where the very benefit of this credit has been doing the most good – is beyond any sensible reasoning,” said Young.
