The State Senate approved a concurrent resolution Tuesday commending local, state and federal law enforcement agencies for their efforts in the wake of a series of shootings this past weekend in north Tulsa that left three people dead and two injured. Senate Concurrent Resolution 35 was authored by Sen. Brian Crain, R-Tulsa, Sen. Judy Eason McIntyre, D-Tulsa, Rep. Jabar Shumate, D-Tulsa, and Rep. Seneca Scott, D-Tulsa.
Crain, a former Tulsa assistant district attorney, said he was extremely pleased by the interagency cooperation throughout the investigation and arrest of two suspects.
“This was a very frightening situation, but the Tulsa Police Department, the FBI and other agencies worked together efficiently and effectively to reassure the public and work quickly to solve this terrible crime,” Crain said. “They all are to be congratulated for their hard work.”
Agencies involved in the case included the Tulsa Police Department, the Tulsa County Sheriff’s Office, the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, and U.S. Marshalls. Lawmakers also praised the efforts of Tulsa Police Chief Chuck Jordan, Mayor Dewey Bartlett, and City Councilman Jack Henderson for keeping the community informed of law enforcement efforts and reassuring citizens those responsible would be found and arrested.
“I cannot tell you how impressed I was with the performance of the Tulsa Police Department throughout this past weekend. They were reassuring to the people of this community, and showed only the highest degree of professionalism, as did everyone involved,” Eason McIntyre said. “We’re also grateful to the citizens who contacted Crime Stoppers and helped solve this case so quickly.”
SCR 35 now moves to the House of Representatives.
