Breaking Down the Health Department Fiasco

The Oklahoman’s Meg Wingerter performed an in-depth look at how the Oklahoma Department of Health’s financial situation became a tangled mess. It appears only three people at the top knew about slush funds which initially kept the Legislature from sweeping up “left-over” state money to balance the state budget. The mismanagement led to unnecessary layoffs, and now the Health Department is finding few takers of former employees willing to return to work for the agency.
