Miller Launches Savings Program for Oklahomans with Disabilities

Oklahoma Treasurer Ken Miller launched a new program to help Oklahomans with disabilities save money for their future. It’s called the Achieving a Better Life Experience (ABLE) savings program.

For Oklahomans who qualify, they may save up to $15,000 a year in the program. Investment earnings from the account may be used for qualified disability expenses free of state and federal taxes. The Oklahoma STABLE program does not jeopardize qualifications for need-based benefit programs like Medicaid and Supplemental Security Income (SSI).

“For too long, Oklahomans with disabilities have been denied easy access to savings and investment opportunities. Today, that all ends,” Miller said.

“We are proud to announce the launch of the Oklahoma STABLE Program. Beginning now, qualified Oklahomans with disabilities can sign up for an Oklahoma STABLE account and start saving for their future and enhanced quality of life.”

Oklahomans with disabilities can take an online quiz to see if they are qualified to open an account, plus they can open and manage their accounts by going to OKSTABLE.org.
