Mullin Supports House Passage of Trump Clawback Proposal

The U.S. House of Representatives approved H.R. 3, the Spending Cuts to Expired and Unnecessary Programs Act on Thursday. The measure claws back nearly $15 billion from programs which have been inactive or have expired with money left over. Congressman Markwayne Mullin fell in step with the Republican majority in passing the measure.

“Congress alone has the power of the purse, and it is high time that Congress use its power to cut wasteful government spending.  With our national debt clocking in at more than $21 trillion, I am proud to see Congress take action to void nearly $15 billion in funding that went unused by various federal programs.  The Spending Cuts to Expired and Unnecessary Programs Act is a good first step toward a more fiscally conservative, sustainable future for our kids and grandkids.  I was proud to vote in favor of the bill on the House floor,” said Mullin.

President Trump called for the legislation which includes 31 rescissions to programs at the Departments of Agriculture, Commerce, Energy, Health and Human Services, Housing and Urban Development, Justice, Labor, State, Transportation, Treasury, Corporation for National and Community Service, and the Railroad Retirement Board.

H.R. 3 passed along party lines, 210-206.
