This week, the legislative Medical Marijuana Work Group gathered industry experts to discuss ways to insure the quality of medical cannabis through testing and setting standards. A representative from the Oklahoma State Department of Health explained the current state of developing standards, but believes it needs statutory authority from the Legislature to implement a testing program. Also, professor who has studied the various effects of medical marijuana’s compounds provided testimony to help provide insight on how labeling and packaging could empower the patient.
The work group will continue to study testing and standards during next week’s hearing. An national expert is expected to testify next Wednesday.
