For a short time, Republican Senate District 16 nominee Becki Maldonado will be a registered Democrat. The Oklahoman’s Dale Denwalt writes Maldonado switched her voter registration from Republican to Democrat during the teacher walkout. However, it was during the “blackout period” on changing party affiliation changes so the switch didn’t take until September 1. Maldonado told the newspaper she has already filed the paperwork to return her affiliation to Republican.
