Inhofe Praises Trump for Signing Defense Spending Bill

It’s been awhile, but Congress managed to fund military spending before the federal fiscal year began, and U.S. Senator Jim Inhofe is singing President Trump’s praises for signing several appropriations bills, including the National Defense Authorization Act.

“For the first time in 10 years, we have fully funded our military before the start of the fiscal year,” Inhofe said. “With this legislation, we’ll be able to fund the priorities in the John S. McCain National Defense Authorization Act and ensure that the men and women who volunteer to wear the uniform have the training, resources and equipment they need to complete their mission. Unlike any other time in our nation’s history, we are facing diverse and wide-ranging threats. It has never been more important to ensure our military has the stable, reliable, adequate and on time funding they deserve.

“We did it right this year—but this should be the rule, not the exception. The two year budget agreement that broke parity between defense and non-defense spending and increased defense funding will end next year and, without action, we will face a return to the harmful cuts of sequestration. The work starts today to repeal sequestration once and for all.”

Inhofe is the chairman of the Senate Armed Services Committee.
