CHS Poll Gives Stitt Narrow Lead in Governor’s Race

The latest poll by Cole Hargrave Snodgrass & Associates puts Republican gubernatorial candidate Kevin Stitt in the lead by a narrow margin over Democratic gubernatorial candidate Drew Edmondson. Stitt had 46 percent of the support from 500 registered voters likely to vote in November who participated in the late September survey. Edmondson stands at 40 percent. Libertarian candidate Chris Powell is polling at four percent. Nine percent of those surveyed remain undecided.

A breakdown of the CHS survey shows that Stitt’s support is mostly among men and the rural counties. Edmondson has a stronger edge with women and among voters in the metro areas. Powell also seems to have most of his support in urban areas. However, this time the Libertarian seems to be drawing support from Democratic and Independent voters, not the Republicans.

Another interesting twist, the usually strong Republican stronghold of senior citizens seems to be nearly evenly split between Stitt and Edmondson. Stitt also has a narrow lead among voters who have a household income of over $100,000 a year, another usual stronghold for Republicans.

Edmondson gets better favorability ratings than Stitt among their own parties.

For a “generic” legislative ballot, Republicans have a 14-point lead.

Republican Matt Pinnell is enjoying a large margin of support in the Lt. Governor’s race with a 19-point lead over Democrat Anastasia Pittman and Independent Ivan Holmes.

Cole Hargrave Snodgrass and Associates conducted the Sooner Survey September 25-29 with 500 registered voters likely to participate in November’s elections. The margin of error in the poll is estimated at 4.3 percent.
