State Health Department Sets October 23 for Nurse Hiring Event

The Oklahoma State Department of Health (OSDH) will hold a hiring event, Tuesday, Oct. 23, in effort to recruit nurses for a number of positions serving in various capacities in counties across the state.

OSDH programs are seeking licensed practical nurses (LPNs) with at least six years of experience in health care settings to serve as clinical health facility surveyors who are responsible for evaluating facility performance and compliance with laws and standards. They will also be evaluating dietary services, infection control and quality assurance in hospitals, ambulatory surgical centers, home health, hospice and other medical facilities. Some overnight travel is required.

Registered nurses (RNs) are being recruited to work clinics at county health departments providing services to individuals and families. Children First nurses are needed to conduct home visits and provide parent education and support to new parents, and early intervention nurses are being sought to provide evaluation and assessment for the SoonerStart Early Intervention program to children ages birth to 3 years of age with developmental delays or disabilities. Newborn screening nurses also are being recruited to work at the central office to provider case management services for children with abnormal newborn screen results and to provide education to health care providers and hospitals across the state.

The hiring event will be held at the OSDH, located at 1000 N.E. 10th in Oklahoma City, from 8 a.m.-7 p.m. All positions include a state benefit package. Applicants are encouraged to bring a resumé as on-site interviews will be conducted.
