Bisbee Named Interim Executive Director of TSET

The Board of Directors for the Oklahoma Tobacco Settlement Endowment Trust (TSET) Monday named Julie Bisbee as the organization’s interim executive director. Former executive director John Woods left for a job with the University of Oklahoma. Bisbee is TSET’s director of public information and outreach.

“TSET has benefited from Julie’s knowledge of TSET’s strategic approach to improving health, as well as her knowledge of state government and the Legislature,” said Don Millican, chairman of the TSET Board of Directors. “The TSET staff is professional and prepared to continue the important and necessary work to reduce preventable death in Oklahoma during this transition.”

Bisbee has worked with TSET for the past six years. She’s a former journalist and also worked as policy director for the Oklahoma Institute for Child Advocacy.

“It’s an honor to serve in this role,” Bisbee said. “Our work at every level is making a difference in the lives of Oklahomans. From cutting-edge cancer research and treatment, community-based grants and incentives that create healthy environments for Oklahoma kids, and programs that help place doctors in rural areas, TSET is creating a healthier future for Oklahoma.”

The TSET Board of Directors is expected to address a timeline and hiring process for a full-time executive director at its regularly scheduled board meeting in January.
