Governor-elect Kevin Stitt has created another cabinet position for his administration and named former Oklahoma Senator Mike Mazzei as his Secretary of Budget. Mazzei will need to be confirmed by the Senate. The Secretary of Budget’s duties include preparing and finalizing the governor’s executive budget proposal, overseeing its implementation and providing advice for the state’s financial strategy.
“Mike Mazzei brings a depth of knowledge from his time as chair of the Senate Finance Committee as well as his success in the private sector that will benefit our administration greatly,” said Stitt. “As Secretary of Budget, he will continue to ensure that our fiscal house is in order and that accountability and transparency measures are implemented with the state’s use of Oklahomans’ hard-earned tax dollars.”
After leaving the Legislature, Mazzei became the president of Tulsa Wealth Advisors and is a certified financial planner. While in the Senate, he served as the chair of the Senate Finance Committee.
This administration is becoming more “establishment” by the day. Oh well….
Mike Mazzei has a keen insight into the way state government works, and has good conservative instincts. He will do a fine job.
