Congressman Markwayne Mullin is joining House Republican Whip Steve Scalise and Congressman Jeff Duncan as part of the House Energy Action Team (HEAT) as a way to counter-act the New Green Deal. The coalition of Congress members will support the “all of the above” energy strategy.
HEAT member Congresswoman Jody Hice is expected to announce Wednesday a discharge petition to put the Green New Deal resolution to a House floor vote.
On Tuesday, the Green New Deal failed to get the 60 votes to advance to the U.S. Senate floor.
Mullin has been vocal about his disapproval of the proposal by Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, the freshman Democrat from New York who has ruffled feathers on both sides of the aisle.
