OKVA Designated as Veteran Education Approving Agency

Governor Kevin Stitt is making the Oklahoma Department of Veterans Affairs (ODVA) the new state approving agency for veteran education and training programs. It is taking on the duties from the Oklahoma State Accrediting Agency (OKSAA). ODVA will be tasked with reviewing institutions and training establishments to see if they meet state and federal standards.

“Our duties at the ODVA are to serve Oklahoma Veterans and their family members. I appreciate the confidence Governor Stitt has shown in the ODVA with this new role,” said ODVA Executive Director Doug Elliott. “With fall enrollment approaching for many students, we at the ODVA will do everything we can to make sure these men and women do not suffer any disruptions in their pursuit of higher education.”

Starting July 1, 2019, the ODVA will begin the process of reviewing, evaluating and approving post-secondary institutions and training programs.
