Gallogly to Retire as OU President

Just as a fresh class of graduates finished walking across the stage, University of Oklahoma President James Gallogly has announced his retirement from the job after less than a year. The Oklahoman’s Nolan Clay writes Gallogly will step down after the Board of Regents has a transition plan. Also, Gallogly says he will not be part of the decision making concerning an investigation into possible misconduct by former OU President David Boren, who has denied any wrong doing.

    He will be sorely missed, but I understand why he wouldn’t want to be in the position of deciding the Boren case. At least he got to make a serious start on controlling OU’s budget and stanching the red ink. He deserves a tip of the hat for that if nothing else.
