Sooner Survey Shows Stitt Enjoying Favorable Numbers

Governor Kevin Stitt has solid favorable numbers and Oklahomans seem to be more positive about the state according to the latest Sooner Survey by Cole Hargrave Snodgrass & Associates. However, the Legislature is still suffering from a less favorable public opinion.

Stitt’s job performance numbers show that 55 percent of those surveyed believe he is doing an excellent or good job. Only eight percent believe he is doing a poor job. Of course, Republicans are more favorable toward Stitt, but he has decent ratings among Democrats (34 percent say he’s doing an excellent or good job while 16 percent said his performance was poor).

The Legislature as a collective body doesn’t perform as well in the survey, despite the Republican majority. Less than a quarter of voters surveyed believe the Legislature is doing either an excellent (two percent) or good (22 percent) job. Twenty-two percent believe the lawmaking body is doing a poor job.

The latest Sooner Survey also indicates Oklahomans are more positive about the state’s future. Fifty-six percent say the state is on the right track. That’s the highest level on the survey since 2007 when Oklahoma was celebrating its centennial and Governor Brad Henry was just re-elected.

They should have polled me: I’m not positive about our state future and rate this governor as a failure.

Must have surveyed some perpetually disgruntled teachers.
