OK Supreme Court Referee Hears Absentee Ballot Arguments

On Wednesday, a Oklahoma Supreme Court referee heard oral arguments concerning how absentee votes are validated.

Tulsa World’s Barbara Hoberock writes the lawsuit was brought by The League of Women Voters and two individuals against State Election Board Secretary Paul Ziriax.

The League claims a law change allows those casting a absentee ballot to sign a attestation, instead of having it notarized.

The attorney representing Ziriax contends the state law requires the notarization and the plaintiffs are asking the Court to change the law.

The Supreme Court will receive the referee’s report and then render a decision.
