Absentee Ballot Notarization Bill Passes, Signed by Stitt

It didn’t take the Oklahoma Legislature long to change the law to counteract the Oklahoma Supreme Court’s ruling on notarization of mail in ballots. On Thursday, the Senate passed Senate Bill 210 which requires notarization of the absentee vote with an exception made for health emergencies like the COVID-19 pandemic.

It was only Monday when the Supreme Court rendered its decision which said that the notary wasn’t required.

Republicans say the move keeps fraud from playing a role in elections. Democrats call it a ploy to keep citizens from voting.

Governor Kevin Stitt signed the bill shortly after it passed from the Senate on Thursday.
