Measure to Require Permits for Capitol Demonstrations Wins Approval

Senate Bill 119 would require a group to submit an application for a permit to demonstrate or hold certain public events at the Oklahoma Capitol. It passed the House General Government Committee this week, six to two.

Tulsa World’s Randy Krehbiel writes proponents tried to dispel concerns the bill would be used the stifle dissent and events like the education funding protests in 2018. They say it is simply holding people responsible for any damage which might occur at the Capitol.
