Nash Appointed Secretary of Military and Veterans Affairs

Governor Kevin Stitt has named U.S. Army veteran and former University of Oklahoma basketball player John Nash as his next Secretary of Military and Veterans Affairs. The cabinet position was open due to the retirement of Brig. Gen. Ben T. Robinson.

Nash enlisted in the U.S. Army Reserve at 17-years old. He became a commissioned officer through the OU Army ROTC program. Nash has served multiple tours of duty in Afghanistan, Iraq and other theaters.

“John Nash’s background as a loyal member of the armed forces combined with his leadership and business skills will ensure we are serving our veterans with honor and supporting the brave Oklahomans who have risked their lives to defend our freedom,” said Stitt.

Nash formed Sporting Global, an international sports management firm, in 2016. He also serves as a special advisor and trainer for the Edmond Police Department SWAT team.

“I am humbled by Governor Stitt’s appointment to serve Oklahoma as the Secretary of Military and Veterans Affairs,” said Nash. “As a member of our country’s armed forces, it is an honor to be able to support our veterans and members of the military in this new role.”
