AG’s Office Reviewing More than 100 Opioid Abatement Grant Applications

More than 100 political subdivisions have filed for a grant from the Oklahoma Opioid Abatement Board. That entity will be distributing $23 million in funds to help combat the opioid crisis.

A total of 34 counties, 33 school districts, 22 municipalities, seven public trusts, and two technical schools applied for the grants. Three joint grants were also submitted during the window from December through March.

“I’m pleased that entities from all across the state are seeking this grant funding to help curb Oklahoma’s opioid epidemic,” Oklahoma Attorney General Gentner Drummond said. “It is important these funds get to local communities to remove fentanyl and other deadly opioids from our streets and to provide help for those grappling with addiction.”

A subcommittee is scoring the grants. It will send recommendations to the Oklahoma Opioid Abatement Board. It is expected to hold a vote on May 22 on those recommendations for grant awards.
