Oklahoma Attorney General Gentner Drummond has joined an amicus brief asking the U.S. Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals to uphold a lower court’s decision that affirms a religious organization’s right to choose employees who support the religious principals of the organization.
In Washington state, the Union Gospel Mission hiring choices were challenged.
“Religious organizations must have the freedom to make hiring decisions that preserve their core mission and beliefs,” Drummond said. “This case is about protecting the fundamental right of faith-based organizations to maintain their spiritual integrity through their workforce choices.”
Drummond joins 19 other state attorneys general in the amicus brief.
