New OK State Board of Education Members Push Back in First Meeting

The three newly appointed members of the Oklahoma State Board of Education did not waste time in letting their presence be known. Ryan Deatherage, Michael Tinney, and Chris VandDenhende attended their first Board meeting on Thursday.

The Oklahoman’s Murray Evans writes the three new members continually pushed State Superintendent of Public Instruction Ryan Walters on multiple issues. It was also the first time since Walters took office that a Board Member voted opposite of him on agenda items.
